New publication about the evaluation of global soil moisture trends

Enormous interest in the 30 years ECV soil moisture data: 130 requests in the first month
Submitted by eva on Tue, 2012-07-17 16:47Since its publication on 18th of June 2012 about 130 users requested the 30 years of ECV soil moisture data and there are about five new requests daily. After a first analysis of user information provided during registration a clear picture of the usage of the ECV soil moisture dataset emerges. Read more »
Scientists from CCI Soil Moisture project contribute to the latest BAMS special issue

From page 30 to 34 they provide an overview of the state of soil moisture for 2011 and explain the ECV merging strategy for active and passive soil moisture data. Thirty Years of Global Soil Moisture Measurements from Space
Submitted by eva on Sat, 2012-06-16 15:43The CCI Soil Moisture project is proud to announce the public release of the ECV soil moisture data set generated within the WACMOS and CCI Soil Moisture projects. The global soil moisture data set has been generated using active and passive microwave spaceborne instruments and covers the 35 year period from 1978 to 2013.

Round Robin exercise of the Soil Moisture CCI started
Submitted by eva on Mon, 2012-06-04 15:34The Round Robin exercise of the Soil Moisture CCI project has officially kicked off on 4th of June 2012 and will last until end of November 2012. The goal of this Round Robin is to encourage the active participation of the international community in CCI soil moisture activities. Any interested person is welcome to participate and develop Level 2 soil moisture algorithms based on the material contained in the Round Robin data package. The Round Robin evaluation will be carried out by members of the CCI soil moisture project consortium. Read more »
Register now for the ECV Soil Moisture Workshop in Vienna (20. - 21. September 2012)
Submitted by eva on Fri, 2012-06-01 09:28The ECV soil moisture dataset, developed by TU Wien in cooperation with VUA Amsterdam and several partners, is the most complete and consistent global Essential Climate Variable (ECV) soil moisture data record based on active and passive microwave sensing. This workshop will provide participants with a complete theoretical and hands-on overview on how to access and work with this database. Soil Moisture CCI website launched

It will highlight the latest research findings in the soil moisture domain and will allow for external user participation and support. The website will also provide an interface for data dissemination and will support project coordination and monitoring. Over time this website will evolve showing new features, news, events and other important issues.
